Size approx. 175 x 44 cm. This is a VERY LIGHTWEIGHT HABOTAI 6 silk scarf. It’s a very soft scarf made of sheer silk fabric. Silk scarf hand-dyed in midnight blue with hints of royal blue, pale blue and white. This is a very neutral yet striking colour combination. This is a one-of-a-kind handmade scarf. Its colours remain the same, but the patterns vary.
A timeless piece that can be worn every season. Each scarf is steam fixed and pre-washed to ensure the vibrant colours are permanent.

All my scarves are handmade using hand-dying (shibori) or hand-painting techniques, or a combination of both. They are unique pieces. They are steam fixed in high temperatures, tied and therefore pre-crushed/pre-creased. The tiny creases then create a beautiful pattern of blending colours. Steam makes the dyes even more vibrant. They are not printed.

A little bit about me:

As a classically trained fine artist, I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of wearable art. So naturally, painting on silk has come as the best idea. Heron Design Studio aims to create such wearable pieces of art that will be timeless and versatile. Every piece that is created is unique.

Every design is sketched first on a piece of paper. That is followed by colours being carefully picked. After that, the scarf is painted (freehand) with no stencils or aids. Small imperfections are just a part of the hand painting process and make the painting unique and unrepeatable. Each of the motives created has a different technique (metallic outliner of watercolour technique etc.), and a different material (different types of silk fabrics) used. That is because suitability is carefully considered.

Care instructions:
– 100% silk
– wash gently in cold water max 30°C – If needed, use a drop of soap – Rinse thoroughly – Wring gently wrapped up in a towel
– iron on low settings preferably still a little bit wet to avoid hard creases
– all items are pre-washed to avoid the excess of dye/paint coming off
