Rhubarb and Custard. Bohemian shawl hand knitted in Japansk cotton, fine merino, pure wool, sari silk yarn and ribbon, raw banana silk.

The outstanding feature of this shawl is the unusual Japanese flat cotton.

The main body of this shawl is knitted in various shades of peach, lemon, pink.Yarns are a mixture of Japansk flat cotton, fine merino and pure wool.Sari silk yarn and raw edged sari silk ribbon have been added for texture together with raw unwoven banana silk.

My inspiration for this shawl are memories of rhubarb and custard sweeties.

I am passionate about pure natural yarns.They are cool in summer and warm in winter, never pill and don’t retain body odours.Because of the natural properties they keep clean much longer than synthetic fibers like Acrylic and Polyester which contain plastic and other man made chemicals.Less washing and no nasty micro plastic running into our oceans.

The sari silk yarn is hand spun by Indian ladies in their villages from the loose ends of saris and the silk ribbon cut from sari remnants.They are employed by a fair tradeco-operative which benefits the whole family.
