An antique late Victorian handmade Branscombe tape lace trimmed handkerchief. with needle made filling stitches.Branscombe lace was made in Devon, particularly the Branscombe area and can be recognised by the tiny purl edging around the lace. The handkerchief is 15″ (38 cm) square and in very good condition.Due to the size it is probably an earlier example, this type of lace was first produced in the 1860s
All the items I sell have had a previous life, so may have some small marks etc. I do try to mention anything, but occasionally I may miss something. Some of my own collection can be seen at gardenhill_antique_lace on Instagram.
